Detention Pond Remediation near Houston
This detention pond was not functioning properly due to the abundance of brushy overgrowth and trees. Since it had never been maintained since its development, it was littered with trash and debris and developed problems with vagrancy over time. Once the pond was cleared, all sediment buildup blocking the flow of water was removed.

Oil Spill Cleanup
A large drum containing used motor oil spilled onto the pavement and entered the storm drain. Special precautions were taken to prevent any oil or contaminated water from entering the detention pond from the inlet pipe. After the spill was contained and all oil was soaked up with sorbent, biodegradable degreaser was applied to remove all traces of the spill from the pavement. The entire area was pressure washed and all runoff was recovered using a vacuum truck. Biodegradable degreaser was applied inside the stormwater pipes and a high pressure pipe jetting truck was used to flush all contaminated water out.

Erosion Repair
Large washouts had developed over time next to the flumes and inlet pipes of this detention pond. The concrete flumes were extended and dissipaters were installed to slow the flow of incoming water. Scour Stop and erosion blankets were used to repair eroded areas. The gabion filter bed was cleaned and all debris and sediment was removed. A rip-rap flume that was not functioning properly was reengineered with Scour Stop and wattles were placed on the outside of the pond’s perimeter fence to help impede water flow.
